What does a lubricant do?
If you own a vehicle, you probably know that the lubricant is critical to engine performance and condition as it helps in:
- cooling the hot spots of the engine and the moving parts;
- cleaning and protecting the engine components;
- reducing friction, i.e. facilitating the movement of all parts of the engine in every weather condition; and
- protecting the internal surfaces of the engine from corrosion.
Additives also contribute in this protective role, especially detergents, dispersants and all additives fighting against moisture and corrosion.
