Which oil should I use in a turbocharged vehicle?
In order to reach the right level of lubrication and meet the requirements of the turbocharger cooling system, the lubricant must fulfil very strict criteria.
Due to its proximity of the exhaust gases, the shaft reaches a very high temperature.
For this reason, it must be continuously lubricated to avoid any permanent damage that might be caused by high temperatures.
These conditions require the use of a lubricant with high detergent property, high resistance to oxidation and deposit formation, and mainly a very high thermal stability. In this case, the use of a synthetic lubricant is the most suitable choice for turbocharged vehicle.
In any event, it is essential to follow the technical specifications mentioned in the vehicle service manual.
