Can I use car engine oil in my motorcycle?

No, because the 4-stroke engines of motorcycles do not function under the same operating conditions as cars (higher rotational speeds and engine temperatures).

The lubricant used for the motorcycle engine is also suitable for the lubrication of the gearbox and clutch gears, therefore, the required lubricant must contain extreme pressure additives.

On the other hand, lubricants used in cars contain detergent / dispersant additives with high ash contents. In a motorcycle engine, this might lead to the formation of deposits on the exhaust valves and piston crowns, possibly resulting in burning the valves and perforating the pistons.

Is this useful ?
