TotalEnergies Marketing Lebanon Conducts Large-Scale Oil Spill Response Drill at Dora Terminal

On October 9, 2025, TotalEnergies Marketing Lebanon carried out a major oil spill response drill at its Dora Terminal, simulating a spill from a tanker discharging at sea and the potential spread of oil toward the Bourj Hammoud fishermen’s port.

The exercise brought together senior Lebanese officials, representatives from key ministries, representatives from the neighbouring terminals and international experts from France, including CEDRE*, FOST**, and the Sapeurs-Pompiers de Marseille. Their participation underscored the importance of collaboration and technical exchange in emergency preparedness.

This was the eighth drill conducted by the affiliate since acquiring its oil spill response equipment in 2010. The simulation unfolded in two phases: containment of the spill at sea using specialized equipment, and protection of the shoreline with shore booms and skimmers. Several technical innovations were also demonstrated, including a rapid equipment deployment trailer, a high-efficiency skimmer, and a floating tank for recovered oil.

The drill reinforced TotalEnergies Marketing Lebanon’s commitment to environmental protection and its role as a responsible energy provider in Lebanon.

*CEDRE is a French organization specializing in the response to accidental water pollution, providing expertise and training worldwide.

**FOST (Fast Oil Spill Team) is an operational centre that belongs to TotalEnergies with a response team and an oil spill response equipment stockpile.
